The Sound Transit Commuter Train

Sound Transit provides one-way Sounder Train service during peak hours between Tacoma-Seattle and Everett-Seattle every weekday. And now commuters traveling northbound to Everett may expand their option by taking Amtrak from Seattle to Everett on the new RailPlus - free with a FlexPass.

Busy commuters find Sounder a very customer-friendly commute option. Given the passenger’s Central Puget Sound demographic, you know there’ll be a cup-holder for coffee at every seat!

Additional facilities aboard Sounder include:

  • restrooms in every passenger car
  • water fountains aboard
  • luggage racks and storage space for bicycles both aboard the trains or at stations
  • a climate-controlled environment, cool in the summer and warm in the winter
  • on Sounder’s upper levels, there are work tables equipped with surge-protected outlets for computers, cell phones or other small electrical devices
  • for those commuters who simply prefer to relax, Sounder offers comfortable, upholstered high-backed seats conducive to snoozing after a hard day’s work or early-morning nap
  • sounder also allows food and beverages to be carried on board in closed containers

Passengers can expect to get from Tacoma to Downtown Seattle in just under an hour and from Everett to Seattle in almost exactly the same time.
