Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) law was introduced as part of the Washington State Clean Air Act in 1991. The intent is to encourage businesses, individuals and government to work together to reduce vehicle trips. The purpose of the CTR Law is to reduce traffic congestion, fuel consumption and air pollution by encouraging commuters to bus, carpool, vanpool, bicycle, ferry, walk, work compressed work weeks or flexible schedules instead of driving alone to work each and every day. Is my company directly affected by the law? The State CTR Law applies to all private and public employers that have 100 or more employees reporting to work at a single work site between 6-9 a.m. on at least two weekdays of each week. Yes?
